Organisational Resilience Capacity of LGBTI+ Organisations: Our Strengths and Needs
As Rainbow Association Against Discrimination, we are carrying out the project "Improving LGBTI+ Rights in Turkey" in cooperation with ILGA-Europe and with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey. Within the scope of this project, self-assessment meetings were held with 11 LGBTI+ organisations (17 May Association, Genç LGBTI+ Association, Hevi LGBTI+ Association, KaosGL Association, Lambdaistanbul Association, Mersin 7Renk LGBT Association, Muamma LGBTI+ Association, Özgür Renkler Association, Pembe Hayat LGBTI+ Association, Social Policy Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Studies Association and Unikuir Association). The self-assessment process, besides revealing the specific needs of the organisations and raising awareness on organisational resilience, also gave us the opportunity to discuss the freedom of association environment in Turkey and the common needs of LGBTI+ organisations. This report brings together the findings of the self-assessment and action plan interviews. We hope that the needs, which touch on a wide range of areas, especially freedom of association, will guide the collaborations of AKGD and similar organisations with LGBTI+ organisations in the coming period.
